Gouffran Able To Smile After Injury Scare

When a new player hits the ground running, helps give excellent balance to the team and then scores his first goal…the last thing you want to see is him stretchered off.

Yoan Gouffran has improved with each match and when he was lying on the pitch at White Hart Lane getting Oxygen as they prepared to stretcher him off the pitch, it seemed slightly(!) unlikely that the player would be later that day walking onto the team plane with a smile on his face.

That though is what happened on Saturday after the match, as reported by the Chronicle today.

Alan Pardew had revealed after the match that despite going for a precautionary x-ray, Gouffran had already looked “less sore” by the time he’d arrived on the stretcher in the changing room.

Even better, the x-ray showed there was no leg break and Gouffran now has every chance of continuing his form against Southampton in two weeks time.

The striker of course is cup-tied and so wasn’t eligible anyway for our double header with FC Metalist Kharkiv.
