‘Almost An Alan Shearer Moment’!

Sitting in the Leazes End, it was like time stood still, then the next moment I was punching the air as the ball hit the net.

It was Papiss Cisse at his very best and a reminder to those who are quick to write off players, especially strikers, who are going through a tough spell.

This is how Alan Pardew summed it up;

“As soon as he hit it, you sensed it was in – it was one of those moments, almost an Alan Shearer moment!

It was a great lift for him because he’s played so well without getting his reward. However, he gets all kinds of goals just as Alan did, he gets the tap ins and the odd wonder goal.

That was a real special one today”.

What a lot of people don’t want to accept is that to hit goals like the one Cisse hit today, or at Chelsea last season, or numerous other ones last year; you have to keep buying a ticket and feel the fans are onside.

Supporters who understand football knew that Cisse’s indifferent form this season is just one of those things, ‘Form is temporary, class is permanent’ should be tattooed on the doubters’ foreheads.
