Alan Pardew Update On Tim Krul Injury Situation And Who Steps In
A man of the match performance against FC Metalist was marred for Tim Krul and everybody else connected with Newcastle United, when a rash challenge left Krul to see out the remaining minutes with an ankle injury.
Krul was on crutches heading to the plane and we’ve been waiting for confirmation as to the seriousness of the injury.
Today Alan Pardew has given us an update;
“Tim’s injury is an issue that is not quite clear yet. On Monday we’ll probably know a little but more.
The scan is showing that he has a strain in there and we need to protect him, so he won’t play this weekend.
How long he’s out, I don’t know”.
No doubt it is a case of hoping for the best but fearing the worst.
When asked if this would mean a Premier League debut for Rob Elliot, the manager had this to say;
“It does, one door closes and another opens. For Robbie it is much deserved because he’s worked so hard on the training pitch”.
Good luck to Rob Elliot, he’s done himself no harm with some decent displays in the Europa League and made clear, at least to me, that he was ahead of Steve Harper and so it has proved for Alan Pardew as well.
