Yohan Cabaye Injury Update

Yohan Cabaye has this morning revealed that it was his decision to come off on Saturday as he was tired and wanted to protect himself against aggravating his recovering groin.

Speaking to The Journal, the happier news is that by doing the sensible thing during the Reading match, Cabaye thinks there is no problem with his availability for the now even more vital relegation clash at Villa Park in eight days time;

“I asked to come off because my groin became tight. I didn’t want to take any risks on my first start for so long. I have come back much earlier than was planned. The pitch was very heavy, I think it was the right decision for me.

I was also feeling tired. You cannot expect a player to be 100% in my situation. I wasn’t fit enough to finish the game and that was why I came off.

I was afraid about my groin. I have come back from surgery and did not want to get pain again. I am not worried now – because I came off I think I will be alright (for Villa)”.

After what happened when Ben Arfa came back too early from his injury and is now missing for at least a couple of months in total, the last thing we need is to be missing the player who arguably will be the most vital in our survival bid.
