Worst NUFC Transfer Story So Far?

I know there is a lot of competition out there but I can’t believe how many times the speculation is been repeated about one player.

In Newcastle United’s current position, who can we hope to attract in the January transfer window?

Apart from Yohan Cabaye giving us a massive helping hand in reeling in Mathieu Debuchy, we are yet to see exactly who Newcastle can land in our current position, especially with the strict transfer criteria laid down in terms of age/wages/transfer fee.

One player who looks as though he would be a massive signing is Siem De Jong and Newcastle have been widely linked with him in the English media.

An attacking midfielder/number ten, De Jong is the twenty three year old captain of Ajax and his team are three points off the top of the league and have featured in the Champions League the last two seasons. De Jong has actually scored three goals in six Champions League matches as well as seven from eighteen league matches. Capped by the Netherlands and with two and a half years on his contract, an attacking midfielder who can score goals is a priceless commodity.

…and he is being linked with a move to Newcastle!

Last summer I would like to think United would have had a great chance of landing such an up and coming talent having just finished fifth in the Premier League. I can only think though that the current speculation is being given oxygen by journalists close to the club to make it appear we are in the mix to capture great prospects like De Jong.

At this moment in time there is no way a player like De Jong is going to be desperate for a relegation fight at Newcastle, especially as he would have no shortage of other alternatives, while exactly why would Ajax be keen to sell their biggest asset at such a crucial time for them?

I find it hard to imagine the players we are capable of attracting this month, while on the other hand I find it quite easy to look at all the players we have no chance with and Siem De Jong easily makes that list.
