What First Attracted You To Big Wage Paying QPR?
So Loic Remy is claiming that money didn’t come into it when he moved to England, apparently he has always wanted to play for Harry Redknapp and is also excited by the ‘project’ at Queens Park Rangers.
I didn’t realise the French were so big on stand up comedy.
I assume the project he is talking about is the one where a club with limited chance of growth gives over the top contracts to as many mercenaries as possible in a desperate short-term move to ‘compete’, before sadly for the fans going out of existence due to the financial burden of chasing the ‘dream’. Who was it that managed that Portsmouth again?
The headline was inspired by one of Caroline Aherne’s earlier comedy classics before the creation of the Royle Family.
She dressed up as an elderly lady called Mrs Merton and with many of the guests not realising the set-up, she’d catch them off guard with some cruel/hilarious questions. The all time classic line was when she asked Debbie McGee, ‘What was the first thing that attracted you to the millionaire Paul Daniels’?
Similarly, when Loic Remy says how much he wanted to sign for Harry Redknapp then maybe he is talking about how much he wanted to sign the contract Harry Redknapp had in his hand; a rumoured £83,000 a week with a reported free transfer if Rangers are relegated/go bust!
I’ve always loved going to Loftus Road and found Rangers’ fans definitely one of the better London varieties but what has happened at their club over the last few years is in many ways more mad than what has happened under Mike Ashley.
As for Newcastle, the really damaging thing hasn’t been whether Remy signed for us or not, it is the overall summer transfer catastrophe that could potentially prove fatal.
Buying ready made strikers/goals in January is almost impossible as Rangers may or may not find out, having now gambled a fortune on a striker who has scored one goal and only started two matches this season.
