St.Etienne Turn Down NUFC Aubameyang Bids – Official Statement

There was much speculation last night and this morning about possible Newcastle United interest in St.Etienne’s striker, Pierre -Emerick Aubameyang.

Turns out there was substance there after all and clearly Newcastle are looking to add a desperately needed quality striker still.

Unfortunately, St.Etienne have just released an official statement saying that they have turned down all offers…so far.

Thanks again to Pierre for the translation from the French club’s official statement

Official Statement – Association Sportive de Saint-Étienne

After rumours about a possible departure of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang  to Newcastle published today in several media, AS Saint-Etienne wishes to clarify that the player, his agent and club officials have declined by mutual agreement all proposals that have been submitted so far. Recognizing the importance of the challenges facing the ASSE until the end of the season, Pierre Aubameyang Emercik has always shown a desire to complete the sports project at the expense of financial aspects. The ASSE can only praise the state of mind of their player.

As always in these cases you are left wondering whether it is really a case of – no way the player is leaving, or….give us a few extra Euros and he’s yours.

Still a few days to go before that window slams shut and the madness subsides.
