Shearer Points Out The Obvious

Alan Shearer may not be the best TV pundit in the world but you can be sure of two things with him.

His love of Newcastle is obvious, especially whenever he is away from the confines of the Match Of The Day studio, while along with the rest of us he can see exactly where United are at this moment in time.

Speaking at the FA’s 150th birthday bash, Shearer had this to say;

“They (Newcastle) need new players, Alan Pardew has openly said he is looking for a centre-forward. The numbers are pretty thin at Newcastle and that has been tested this year.

It is disappointing to see our top scorer leave because we desperately need goals. It has left Newcastle with a huge gap they need to fill”.

Buying quality players is difficult at the best of times but in the January transfer market it is almost impossible, especially when you are in a relegation fight and your club has a very rigid policy on wages, age of signings etc.

It does seem inconceivable that Newcastle could have to fight the rest of this season with only one recognised forward/goalscorer but as we found in the summer when Alan Pardew stated that he was desperate for a commanding centre-back and a full-back, just because our manager tells the whole world what he needs, there is no certainty that he will get what he wants/needs.
