Pardew Reveals Transfer Budget Reality
In advance of the January transfer window, Alan Pardew had stated that he’d made clear to Mike Ashley that Newcastle needed to be three players stronger at the end of January, now possibly Mike Ashley has made clear to Alan Pardew exactly what he’s willing to spend.
With the Ba and Debuchy deals due to be signed off any time now, it means Alan Pardew/NUFC still need three extra players who pretty much all of the fans would see as essential.

The manager certainly also believing that to be the case but this is what Alan Pardew has to say now about the transfer window;
“He (Mike Ashley) has been (supportive) and he has to be even more supportive in this window. He has to find the extra money for the striker, we’re not going to buy a striker for the money we’ve received for Demba.
There’s a couple of options there for me. One in particular plays on the side which would then push Cabaye forward to play in a loose number ten role, this is a role where he’s done very well for us in the past. He would definitely find a moment or two for Papiss.
If we do find a striker or wide man, he also needs to be a recognised goalscorer. In the options we have there’s a couple of striker/wide players and also a couple of strikers we think would link up well with Papiss.
All of that will depend a lot on how much the striker costs us, so that is something I think we’ll come to later in the window”.
The pre-transfer window talk put out by Llambias/Ashley friendly journalists that we’d see a new striker coming in very early in January regardless of what woul happen with Demba Ba, seem a bit hollow now.
The Everton match shows how catastrophic it would be not to bring in another quality striker to play with Cisse and every match that goes by without signing one will handicap Pardew and his squad even further.
Never mind how many pennies might be left for the other couple of players we are desperate for…
