Pardew ‘5 Top Players Could Be Back For Norwich’

Scrambling around for any good news after today’s match, Alan Pardew offered a glimmer of hope for next week’s trip to Norwich.

With the squad transparently not good enough he needs his best players on the pitch desperately.

After the defeat today he told the club’s official TV channel that as well as Mathieu Debuchy expected debut, he could welcome back five players from injury.

This is what the manager had to say;

“Colo and Papiss missed out with knocks today, one had a slight hamstring and one had a slight thigh – you can’t take risks with them.

For Norwich though they should be OK. Hopefully Gutierrez will be back, maybe Cabaye, maybe (Steven) Taylor”.

Reading between the lines I’m guessing that if either Cabaye or Taylor make it then we’ll have done well, while it seems likely we could see Debuchy, Coloccini, Cisse and Gutierrez all available.

Will it be enough to turn things around? Well one thing is for sure and that is without them we’ll be dead and buried if today’s performance is anything to go by.
