NUFC – First Reserve For TV
What could prove a crucial relegation fight fixture has now been put back a day.
Newcastle’s home match with Southampton was due to take place on Saturday 23rd February but has now been moved back to the Sunday (24th February) with an awful 1.30pm kick off time. I bet the Southampton fans are over the moon as well…
Newcastle take on FC Metalist Kharkiv on the preceding Thursday in the Europa League and the Southampton match was always nailed on to be moved as United would require the extra day as preparation on their return from the Ukraine.
The Capital One Cup final is later that day and I’m guessing there was nothing to stop our match clashing with that one.
However, the scheduled Sky Sports match at 1.30pm on February 24th is Manchester City v Chelsea and with Demba Ba’s new team facing Swansea in the semi-final of that competition, it doesn’t take a genius to work out that we are almost certainly now first reserve to take over the live TV spot if Chelsea make the final.
Newcastle United – always the bridesmaid…
