Newcastle United Make The Front Pages In France

Every French player on the pitch contributed to the great win at Villa Park last night and it didn’t go unnoticed on the other side of the Channel.

The eagerly awaited first match since the flood of signings last week went very much according to plan, that is if you are a Newcastle fan or anybody hoping that United’s French project will be a hit.

In France there was keen interest in last night’s match and this morning we are honoured by Newcastle United making the front cover of L’equipe, featuring Yohan Cabaye’s goal of beauty and power.

This is how we’ve made the news on L’equipe’s cover;

30 Jan 2013 L’equipe Newspaper Headline ‘Ils Les Aiment Déjà’

(Translation) ‘They Like Them Already’

Front cover text – ‘Newcastle who beat Aston Villa have adopted their French colony represented yesterday by five players of which four started the game’

While The L’equipe Facebook Headline ‘Le made in France, ça marche !’

(Translation) ‘Made in France, it’s working!’

With Yohan Cabaye back to near his best and encouraging performances from Gouffran and Debuchy in that excellent first half, I don’t see the headlines disappearing at home or abroad.

What about that first half performance of Moussa Sissoko though!

Pace, power and what a pass for the opening goal, I can’t wait for Saturday’s match against Chelsea now and I think a few of our French friends will be keeping an eye on the proceedings as well.

How good is it when you are looking forward to going to the match again!
