Newcastle United – Aiming At Top Half
Only a mad person would be now aiming at the top six for Newcastle United but with this belated influx of very good players such as Debuchy, Mapou and Sissoko, is a respectable top half position now totally out of the question?
Obviously the absolute priority is simply making sure United avoid relegation but if the new players can hit the ground running then who knows.
It isn’t like aiming to finish as high up the table as possible is at odds with the task of making relegation a fear of the past.
The last two seasons have seen 47 points as the total for clubs ending up tenth in the Premier League.
Newcastle currently have 21 points with 15 matches left, so is 26 points realistic from those remaining matches?
Obviously the bookies don’t think so at those odds but if the players, old and new, can manage our first away win of the season tomorrow night at Villa then I think we have every chance.
You pay your money and take your chance but if United win tomorrow then just watch the odds tumble.
Newcastle United 8/1 to finish top half
