Newcastle Target Suspended By His Club
We reported yesterday that Newcastle target, Moussa Sissoko, had been pulled out of the Toulouse squad to play PSG tonight.
French media reports claimed that a deal with Newcastle United was imminent.
Now Toulouse’s chairman, Olivier Sadran, has announced that Sissoko has been suspended due to the ongoing row over his future.
It was believed Newcastle’s initial interest was in getting the player to sign a pre-contract as he will be a free agent in the summer. However, it is now speculated that with Newcastle’s current predicament, United may want him to move in the January window.
The sticking point is that Toulouse would want compensating with a fee of 3m Euros the speculated figure,
The Toulouse coach, Alain Casanova (class name!) has told L’Equipe that the whole club is behind the chairman’s decision to suspend Sissoko;
“The whole club shows full solidarity to the chairman’s decision.
It is really a shame that a player educated by the club could leave as a free agent. His absence is a big loss for the team but that decision is correct”.
It would appear that the player is definitely leaving and the only question is whether it is this month or in the summer, whether the conflict will help Newcastle United to land the player, only time will tell.
