Newcastle Go Top Of The (Injury) League

Latest news just in is that Newcastle have gone top of the league, unfortunately though we are talking the ‘injury league’.

Based on injury info collated from physioroom.com, the weekly injured for each club in the Premier League are added up and with one point for each injured player per week, Newcastle United have now gone clear at the top.

Previous leaders Arsenal have now been eclipsed with NUFC currently carrying nine injuries;

Simpson, Gutierrez, Perch, Ben Arfa, Steven Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Cabaye, Gosling and Vuckic.

Alan Pardew of course left Papiss Cisse and Fabricio Coloccini out because of ‘knocks’ at the weekend, though he did say he expected them to be available for Saturday at Norwich.

Initial optimism has all but disappeared on Yohan Cabaye and Steven Taylor, as the manager’s encouraging noises of late last week have been replaced with maybe it being a bit dodgy risking them at Carrow Road and risking a setback.

According to the manager though there does appear to be a decent chance of Jonas Gutierrez making Saturday’s trip.

Hopefully we’ll end up mid-table of the injury league by the end of the season, as the alternative could massively impact on our chances in the proper league.
