Newcastle Bid Rejected For Midfielder
Bastia’s highly rated attacking midfielder Florian Thauvin had been the subject of a 3m Euros from Newcastle, an offer which included loaning the player back to the Corsican club and a 15% sell-on clause from any profit.
The Bastia President, Pierre-Marie Geronimi, had promised a quick decision and true to his word he has came back with his reply which is a no, at the moment.
Though the midfielder has at the same time not extended his contract at Bastia which suggests he will be on his way in the summer.

Florian Thauvin is going to stay
Coveted by Lille, Newcastle and Arsenal, Florian Thauvin will remain in Corsica until the end of the season. “Florian Thauvin was currently the subject of one concrete offer of 3 million euros from the English club Newcastle which was rejected,” said Pierre-Marie Geronimi, president of Bastia, to France Bleu. “However, he does not wish to extend his contract with the club Bastia,” said Geronimi. The Bastia striker, 19, is under contract until 2014.
