Newcastle Agree €2.5 million Fee For Gouffran

Talk about buses…after the disastrous lack of activity last summer, Newcastle United are now seemingly putting action to the rumours of bringing in four or five players in this window.

While Debuchy is the only one to be signed and sealed so far, it does seem as though others are looking as though they will get over the line.

The latest positive news is an exclusive from Le10 Sport who are reporting that Bordeaux striker Yoan Gouffran is on his way to Tyneside today after the two clubs agreed a €2.5 million fee. This followed earlier claims that Bordeaux had originally wanted €4m but were now willing to accept less as the striker only has months left on his contract. Newcastle’s first reported bid of  €750,000 was knocked back and so it looks as though they have met somewhere in the middle.

EXCLUSIVE – Gouffran file à Newcastle (Thanks once again to our overworked translator, Pierre)

EXCLUSIVE – Gouffran ‘making his way’/‘goes quickly’ to Newcastle (the translation of ‘file’ is to scarper, scram, run move fast so it is really hard to translate)

‘According to our information, Yoan Gouffran will officially join with Newcastle in the coming hours. An agreement has just been reached between Bordeaux and Mapgies for an amount of €2.5 million.

Yoan Gouffran, who was going to be out of contract in June, will not finish the season in Gironde. He will fly to England on Wednesday to complete his signing. A four and a half year contract is awaiting him.

As revealed by le10sport.com on January 2, Yoan Gouffran was a popular alternative for Newcastle in case of failure with Rémy and as the latter chose QPR, tracking Gouffran was quickly re ignited.’
