Mackems Get Their Pitchforks Out Again
While (at last) once again enjoying reading all the headlines this morning and replaying the excellent goals from Cisse and Cabaye, I couldn’t help noticing that our friends down the road are at it again.
Swansea have admitted that sunderland have put a bid in for Danny Graham and Martin O’Neill doesn’t appear to be denying the fact, with a transfer still expected to go through today.

This is despite the fact that when he came on last night as a late substitute for Swansea, he got a load of abuse from the thirty five thousand who had bothered to turn up.
The resentment revolves around the fact that Graham is a Newcastle fan born & bred and made the following throwaway comments in an interview when asked who he’d support if there was no NUFC;
“Put it this way. I would stay as far away from sunderland as I could. It would probably have to be Gateshead”.
With the mackems dusting down their pitchforks again, it must create a pretty negative start to Danny Graham’s mackem career if he does sign, when a sizeable number of your ‘fans’ are willing you to fail.
I can’t think of a similar precedent for Newcastle fans, with the likes of Barry Venison being welcomed with open arms at St.James’ Park despite his mackem roots…not talking about his hair there by the way!
