Is Cisse ‘Central’ To Alan Pardew’s Plans
So it appears the infamous ‘clause’ first discussed by ‘Arry nearly a year ago, has finally been activated by who else, moneybags Chelsea of course. Demba’s departure has not come as a shock to me but the club he is going to has, presumably because Roman insists on playing Torres and they have only played 4-2-3-1 all season, a formation that is favoured by Benitez.
Enough about Ba though, rule one of supporting Newcastle United, it’s not who we sell it’s who we replace them with that is key! More importantly, how will this affect his fellow countryman Papiss Cisse? As it seems Pardew is currently very reluctant to play a straight 4-4-2 (which I don’t understand as it produced a good few results during the unbeaten run at the start of last season?
Hopefully now that Demba and his ‘representatives’ have departed SJP, Pardew will/should begin to play Cisse in his only position, Striker!!! Either the central man in a 3-man attack or up top in a pair with Shola/new signing (possibly Remy?)
Lets not forget that when he played this role last season Papiss was the talk of the league and astonished onlookers, notably Didier Drogba in the Chelsea away game last season, also do not forget that most of Cisse’s goals this season came when Ba was not on the pitch.
Pardew needs to finally give Cisse the opportunity in the central role that he deserves. Personally iI think at present, presuming Ba does leave, the attack we should go with is three up top with Cisse down the middle, flanked by Ben Arfa and Marveaux, who has really impressed in the last few games.
If Cisse still struggles to find the net when played in his proper position then I think Pardew would have no choice but to drop him as, obvious though it sounds, Cisse is a poacher, a very good poacher, but he is one of those strikers that when not scoring offers literally nothing to his team. At times this season it has been like playing with ten players.
Brilliant footballer, no. Brilliant goalscorer, yes.
