French Press Misuse Shola Quote To Stir It

As we have mentioned a few times already on the website, the Newcastle United raids on the French market haven’t been welcomed in all quarters over the Channel.

There have been a number of negative reports in the French media and now the website foot-anglais.com has been sticking the knife in regarding United’s accumulation of French players, here is the translation expertly provided by Pierre under the title of;

Newcastle : The Frenchies not welcomed ?

The influx of French players at Newcastle is a topic of conversation and debate concerning the arrival of a number of French players at the club albeit as an outsider or at the club itself.

Moreover, one of the strikers at Newcastle, Shola Ameobi, has not hesitated to express scepticism about the influx of French players in the Magpies’s team “I’ll have to revise my French because it is getting ridiculous, LOL” he commented via his Twitter account.

For Gerard Houllier, former coach of Liverpool and Aston Villa, Alan Pardew, the Newcastle manager might encounter some problems: “The locker room is totally unbalanced. There will be problems”, warns the French technician in comments reported by the newspaper ‘France today’.

The use of Houllier’s quote is clearly meant to stir things up and whether the humour hasn’t travelled very well or not, I think that the use of Shola’s clearly having a laugh tweet to back up the idea of there being a problem is as Shola says himself LOL! (For anybody not up with the modern abuse of language, the abbreviation LOL is ‘Laugh Out Loud’ or ‘Lot Of Laughs’, not ‘Let’s get all these Frenchies out of our club!)

*** NB Turns out it wasn’t even Shola’s quote, turns out the innocent quote was from Sammy Ameobi that the French media are using!
