Exclusive – Cabaye Interviews Debuchy
After spending so long together at LOSC (Lille), Yohan Cabaye and Mathieu Debuchy are best mates, on and off the pitch.
The two players took up the invitation from France’s beinSport for Yohan to ‘interview’ his best mate and thanks to our top translator, Pierre, we bring you this exclusive.
Below the video is the English/Geordie tranaslation.

Debuchy et le défi Magpie (Debuchy and the Magpie challenge)
Cabaye playing the journalist…..
Cabaye calls him “Debuche” and Debuchy calls him “Yo”
Yo: “How was your first week?”
Debuche: “It has been straightforward, no real time for myself – straight into training, straight into it, that is what is needed and it’s good.”
Yo: Am I responsible for you coming here?”
Debuche “I feel that I would have come even if you were not here, because it is a big club and it is in the premier league, but it would be fair to say that you being here is a plus.”
Debuche “ I feel I am starting from scratch as Yo was telling me people here don’t watch the French league 1 so they don’t know me, I am coming here and I have a lot to prove to the fans. Yo has proved that he was not going towards the unknown but he was going to a big club. I have heard many people asking why Yo was going to Newcastle, well it is clear to us all now that he made the right choice.”
Yo: “Why didn’t you join me sooner?”
Debuche: “Ah, you need to ask the directors at LOSC, but it would have been better for me to come this summer, but we are not going backwards let’s look to the future, now I am here, let’s go forward.”
Yo: “Do you regret the last 6 months at LOSC?”
Debuche: “No, I have no regrets with LOSC and what has happened in the last 6 months, everything has always gone well for me with the club, yes it’s true not so well lately as we didn’t agree but I don’t want to cancel out all the great years I have had at LOSC and I owe a great deal to Lille.”
Bein Sport makes comment that they were ‘brothers in arms’ which gave a great deal of happiness to LOSC.
Debuche: “I have been made welcome and feel the atmosphere at the club is similar to LOSC and with a family feeling.”
Debuche: “Yeah no problem, no time to think and just get on with it. Every weekend I will face those top strikers.”
Yo: “Demba Ba’s house is available, you can take it, we could be neighbours and you would not live far?”
Debuche: “Yeah, I have seen the house and I will very soon make a choice.”
Yo: “What are your aims and ambitions both here and in the French team?”
Debuche: “I have many; first to climb up the league, the next match is crucial; to perform well for Newcastle and to be called into the French team”
Debuche: “Thank you MR CABAYE”
