Debuchy The Blueprint For Signings

Not surprisingly Alan Pardew was happy to focus on new signing Mathieu Debuchy when discussing our next match at Norwich.

The signing of the French international right-back the one ray of sunshine in a January blighted by yet another league defeat, an embarrassing cup exit and the Coloccini fiasco following Ba’s departure.

“Mathieu has come in and been accomplished. He’s not really ripped any trees up but he just looks like a proper, senior player who knows the game.

I haven’t had to give him too much information but a few of our wide players haven’t had too much joy against him.

I’m really looking forward to seeing him in a Newcastle shirt, I think he will add some real quality to us”.

Like the manager I’m really looking forward to seeing Debuchy and it is little surprise that he appears to have settled in so quickly, a French international who has won a league title and also competed in the Champions League and European Championships.

In Newcastle’s current position an experienced talented player definitely fits the bill and this is where United’s transfer ‘policy’ could be at odds with a relegation fight, throwing in young relatively inexperienced players from abroad could be a recipe for disaster, that is of course if we actually do sign anybody else.

One final note, I don’t want to be cruel but with Ben Arfa nowhere near returning I would be a bit worried if Debuchy was getting the run around from any of our wide players!
