Bordeaux Name Price On Newcastle Target
Following the rejection of Newcastle United’s offer of €750,000 for striker Yoan Gouffran, their are reports in the French media today that a few extra quid/Euros will land the twenty six year old forward.
With the French theme seemingly dominating United’s whole transfer strategy, we are again indebted to our translator Pierre for the following ;
‘Le Parisien newspaper said today that Bordeaux has so far refused an offer of €750,000 from Newcastle for the transfer of Yoan Gouffran but Jean-Louis Triaud (President of FC Girondins de Bordeaux) has indicated that he may accept an offer of €1.2 million.
The Bordeaux directors had initially demanded €4 million for their player but he is out of contract in six months and so are resigned to accepting a much lower offer.’
Having scored twenty two goals in his last fifty four matches for Bordeaux, it isn’t hard to see why the player could be seen as a value for money signing, especially compared to the inflated prices you would pay for any established player in England.
Whether Gouffran could thrive in the Premier League is obviously something we’ll only find out if Mike Ashley is prepared to pay the extra.
