Top Ten ‘Success’ For Newcastle?
What about now?
I think most of us would snap up top ten if it was offered considering where we are at the minute, especially with the run of fixtures we are heading into over the next few weeks; Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and Everton, with only QPR a match where Newcastle will be expected to win.
However, one unlikely group of people haven’t lost faith in Newcastle United.
In the betting for finishing top ten at the end of the season, the bookies still clearly believe Newcastle are capable of bouncing back and putting a run together.
While the likes of Man.Utd, Man.City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Everton and Liverpool(!) are seen as certainties to be in that top ten, the betting on the rest makes interesting reading;
Despite being only a point behind, Sunderland are a massive 8/1 to finish in the top half while Newcastle are only 7/4.
In simple terms, 47 points has been enough in the last two seasons to finish in the top half so can Newcastle conjure up ten wins from their remaining twenty two matches?
Alan Pardew is looking for the ‘big win’ to start our season and nowhere better than today against Manchester City, a follow up against QPR would see NUFC odds on to finish in that top half, on the other hand if results don’t go our way…
