Solano In Possible Move Back To Tyneside

Nobby Solano could be interested in a return to the north east following the sacking of Ian Bogie at Gateshead.

Solano is managing Universitario De Deportes back in his home country but it’s believed he would love the chance to manage back in England, though whether he’d be willing to drop to Conference level is another thing.

Ex-Newcastle United cult hero, Tommy Cassidy, has told the Chronicle it would be a great catch for Gateshead if they can persuade Nobby to return to the north east;

“It would be refreshing to see a former Premier League player come down to the Conference and take the job on.

It would be difficult and his knowledge of the lower leagues would be questioned by some, but he’s a character, and he could bring a lot of influence to the club”.

It is always the big question, which players would make decent managers and some of the very best players have made rotten management material.

I used to love Nobby for us and I think a lot of fans at the time didn’t realise how good he was and his intelligence as a player would be a massive asset now if he has the ability to pass it on to lesser mortals.
