Perfect Solution To Ferguson’s Cheating Ways
What the recent Alex Ferguson incident has told us for sure is that referees have so much to lose these days, that the likes of Mike Dean is going to have one eye on his career, when he thinks about the repercussions of going up against Alex Ferguson.
To deal with bullies like Ferguson and their cheating ways the answer may lie with another sport.
In Rugby matches, the referee wears a microphone and everything that he says and is said to him is recorded.
In fact in the wake of the Chelsea accusations against Mark Clattenburg, Ian Ritchie, Chief Executive of the RFU (Rugby Football Union) had this to say about how it could be a massive help for football;
“Our head of referees keeps a recording of every game. That has to be right. You can hear what the players are saying, never mind what the referees are saying. That element of respect is very important, it’s back to the core values of the game”.
Alex Ferguson claimed he did nothing wrong but when the referee bottles it the authorities claim there is nothing they can do.
If in the cold light of day, what the likes of Ferguson actually says, could be reviewed by people with no cause to be afraid of Fergie’s revenge then we could sort out the guilty from the innocent and referees and linesmen could get on with doing their jobs, free from intimidation.
