Pardew Refuses To Comment On Transfer Speculation

No doubt sick of being asked about the January transfer window at every opportunity, and certainly every press conference, Alan Pardew has taken a hard line.

Talking to the Journal he had this to say about his plans for transfer activity in January;

“I know I have given an overview of where our season may go but I am not going to talk about the window because that is unfair, looking at where we are right now.

We have ten top players in that treatment room and the players I have playing I need to get the best out of them.

You won’t get anything about January from me. There will be discussions between myself and Derek and Mike about the plan for January”.

The manager might not be wanting to talk about it but no doubt everybody else will.

The reason so many people are talking about transfers and January so much, is because NUFC failed to strengthen in the summer.

if the same happens in this transfer window and results & performances don’t pick up, then the chatter about transfers certainly won’t end when the January window closes.

Maybe Alan Pardew is reflecting on the fact he made it clear that he desperately wanted the likes of Douglas and Debuchy in the summer, only to be undermined by his bosses.

‘Once bitten twice shy’ maybe, but what is undisputed, is the squad needs strengthening desperately and if there is no action then any amount of words afterwards will be just as meaningless as Pardew’s vow of silence now.
