Pardew Lays The Law Down For Ba

In a very belated attempt, Alan Pardew and Newcastle United have today tried to seize back the initiative with the Demba Ba contract saga.

Alan Pardew;

“Really and truly this window is the key I think because if Demba goes in this window it will cause us a problem.

I think he will stay but there’s a possibility he could go because of the clause that’s still in force.

In the summer, I won’t let it run until the summer. I’ll do something about it.

We will either move Demba on or we will secure him in the summer”.

The manager’s words don’t exactly tell us anything we didn’t know already. Pardew admits Ba could go this January and his comments about the summer are plain common sense.

A lot of people don’t seem to realise that as well as the much publicised contract clause, in the summer Demba’s contract will only have a year to run. So the club are hardly going to want to run the risk of getting nothing for Ba by letting the player’s contract run down into the final year.

However, judging by the lack of success with sorting out Danny Simpson one way or the other and the player only having months left now, I wouldn’t rule out the same happening with Ba.
