Newcastle Speak To Remy’s Representatives

With the January transfer window only days away, we will shortly find out Newcastle United’s true intentions in the transfer market.

This morning Sky Sports are reporting that Newcastle have spoken to Loic Remy’s representatives with regard to a possible move to Tyneside.

They also claim that there is interest from elsewhere with the likes of Spurs, West Ham, Chelsea and Schalke keeping an eye on the situation.

Previously there have been reports from journalists close to the Ashley regime claiming that Newcastle would be in a position to announce a new signing as soon as the January window opens, with Remy being the name put forward.

I think with the Loic Remy situation, after speculation over a long period of time, if Newcastle don’t sign him early in the transfer window then experience tells you that the chances of him signing will massively diminish.

Newcastle’s need is immediate and Marseille aren’t playing Remy as first choice, so no early agreement would suggest the French club and/or the player holding out for a better deal, which again from experience would suggest we wouldn’t land him if there is a bidding war.
