Newcastle Players Reveal Who They Miss The Most

The Newcastle United players have been lining up to say how much they are missing one player in particular.

Vurnon Anita;

“Yohan (Cabaye) is a really good player for us, an important player, but unfortunately he is not here right now.

We must deal with this and other players need to step up. Yohan is a more attacking player than our other midfielders. He brings a lot of creativity, just like Hatem (Ben Arfa), who showed that at Fulham.

We definitely miss Yohan and we all hope he will be back sooner rather than later because he’s a top player”

James Perch;

“It is really difficult when you have a player like Yohan on the sidelines because the guy is of genuine international quality”.

Hatem Ben Arfa is undoubtedly a very talented player who can produce moments of pure magic, both in terms of creating chances and scoring goals himself.

However, Newcastle are in a strange position in that Yohan Cabaye is pretty much our only playmaker, somebody who can link all the play together, particularly in helping it to get from the back to the front.

We have nobody else, not even a young apprentice waiting to try and fill that role, so Yohan’s absence is to me the single biggest factor in our current run – even though he hadn’t hit real heights so far this season.

In recent weeks we have seen Vurnon Anita coming more and more to the fore and while I don’t think playmaker is his natural role, a lot will rest on his shoulders – especially when Cheick Tiote heads off to the African Nations.

The emergence of Anita has led to the intriguing possibility of how Tiote, Anita, Cabaye will look as a midfield three – hopefully that will happen as soon as possible for all of our sakes.
