Newcastle Agree £10m Deal For Remy – Reports

Reports tonight claim that Newcastle United have agreed a £10m deal with Marseille for Loic Remy.

This story has gathered pace in recent days and rumours of one of Newcastle’s players also going in the opposite direction are still circling, with the Mirror claiming that it is Sylvain Marveaux who could well be heading back to France after a less than impressive spell on Tyneside.

Remy has been largely out of favour this season but in the previous two seasons scored 37 goals in 83 club appearances.

Remy was in the provisional French squad for the Euros earlier this year but failed to make the final cut of 23.

As well as playing as a main striker, Remy can also operate as the second striker or on the wing, so in theory at least he ticks a lot of boxes as the kind of versatile striker that we haven’t got.

Alan Pardew has stated that he is looking to bring in at least one player but has speculated that if Newcastle lose one then that would mean bringing in two etc.

Whatever happens it is vital that the team is in a better position to score goals at the end of January than it is at present.
