Manchester City Ban Good For Newcastle?

Not too sure if it is a positive or negative but Gareth Barry will miss Saturday’s match as he serves a one match ban imposed today by the FA.

Barry has been banned for just our match after admitting a Football Association charge of using abusive and/or insulting words to an official.

The FA statement read;

“Manchester City’s Gareth Barry will serve a one match suspension with immediate effect after admitting a breach of FA Rule E3 in that he used abusive/and or insulting words towards a match official following his side’s match against Manchester United on Sunday 9th December 2012. Also as part of the standard penalty for this offence, Barry has been fined £8,000”.

I personally don’t rate Barry and it isn’t like they are in Newcastle’s position and have nobody to bring in for him. However, he is clearly one of Mancini’s ‘purples’ and is in the team as first choice so just possibly we will get some benefit from him not being available.
