Luck Has Turned – Santa Wishes Us Well!
I am a Fulham supporter and was at the game on Monday with my daughter. After the game, the pub ran out of Guinness and we were forced to find an alternate venue. As we entered the pub of choice, I noticed several customers wearing black and white scarves. By the time I got to the bar, it was apparent that the black and white represented Newcastle rather than Fulham and we had stumbled into a pub full of Geordies!
The purpose of this missive is to applaud the behaviour of the Geordie fans towards both my daughter and myself. They were a credit to the club, good company, good humoured (despite the result) and good drinking companions.
In an era where cheating, racial problems and other negative issues dominate football, I feel a need to draw attention to good behaviour and emphasise the camaraderie that can exist between football fans, whatever team one happens to support.
If any of your readers were in the Eight Bells after the game on Monday, I’m the Fulham fan that endured your chant of “are you Santa in disguise”.
Good luck for the rest of the season.
