Claim That Ba Is In Breach Of Contract

It looks ever more likely that there will be transfer movement in the striking department with the Demba Ba situation coming to an unhappy conclusion and the possible recruitment of Loic Remy from Marseille.

One of the journalists who is close to the Ashley regime has revealed that the interview Demba Ba did for Canal+, talking about Arsenal, was unauthorised by Newcastle United and so the player may be fined as he is in breach of contract without prior permission from the club.

The Telegraph claim that a two week fine would be £90,000, indicating Ba’s actual weekly wage is £45,000.

The report by the Ashley/Llambias regime friendly journalist goes on to claim that Newcastle United made a new contract offer last month in an attempt to remove the contract clause but that Ba’s representatives didn’t even reply to the alleged offer.

Whatever does or doesn’t happen, it is clear that the club are turning the screw on Demba Ba and keen to portray the player as the one to blame for the failure to come to agreement on his contract.

Whether the player is the one to blame comes down to what you want to believe.

The fact we can be sure of is that Demba Ba has scored 11 of our feeble total of 19 Premier League goals and Newcastle United could be playing a dangerous game if they are helping to push the player out of the door in this transfer window.

The report also claims that Newcastle’s talks with Marseille about Loic Remy may have been leaked to produce a bidding war, though of course this could be then presented later as an excuse why we didn’t end up buying him.

The article does though also suggest that the club has tired of the Ba situation and so intend to buy another striker regardless, all of which leading to the possibility of us having one, two or three goalscorers on the books at the end of January.

Whatever happens it looks like we are in for an ‘interesting’ new year.
