Can Top Two Players v Wigan Follow Up In France?
Thanks to all of you who voted in our Newcastle United v Wigan man of the match poll which threw up a couple of surprises.
Despite Demba Ba’s double strike, there were two less heralded players way out in front in our man of the match vote.
Vurnon Anita came out on top with a dominant 45% of the total votes with Sylvain Marveaux next best on 24%, with Davide Santon a distant third on 15%.
Both Anita and Marveaux are on the plane which eventually took off for France this afternoon, delayed by the snow that fell across Tyneside.
Anita does look to be finding his feet in recent matches and it would be great to see him add another decent performance to keep the upward momentum going.
While in the case of Marveaux, the French midfielder/winger has become a forgotten man after some really poor performances so far this season, against ten men Wigan though he impressed and maybe if he can show similar against Bordeaux he will be starting to give Alan Pardew something to think about.
