Ben Arfa Injury Setback
In advance of the City match the Daily Mail has reported that Alan Pardew said this about Ben Arfa’s availability;
“His hamstring is still a problem and he is a doubt”.
In our Fulham man of the match poll, Ben Arfa easily won top spot with over half the votes and that was despite him not being fully fit, as Alan Pardew revealed after the match.
It would be cruelty beyond belief to have seen that brief seventy minutes at Craven Cottage, only to have him snatched away again.
Even if only half fit he was streets ahead of most of our other players and scored a goal out of nothing, more than anything though it just gives you a huge lift when you are looking ahead to the next match. Especially with it being already a tough ask to get something from Manchester City, even with a fully fit Ben Arfa.
Hopefully it will prove to be a false alarm and Hatem will be raring to go at 12.45 on Saturday.
You have to also wonder though as to whether Ben Arfa playing against Fulham, when not fully fit, has aggravated the problem.
Once again we come back to the fact that our squad is wafer thin and the manager has clearly had to play some of his star men when they haven’t been fully fit and then run the risk of them being out long-term.
We’ll just never know as to whether some of our injury problems this season would have not been so severe if decent replacements had been available, allowing players carrying knocks to go on the bench or be rested.
