Ben Arfa Back Tonight But Different Role??
Speaking ahead of tonight’s match the manager has revealed that Ben Arfa is set to be in his team but may not be where we’ve come to expect him in the formation.
“I was very disappointed to lose Hatem in the Maritimo match because I wanted to get a full ninety minutes of him performing that (central) role.
He is going to put the ball at risk there but on the plus side, he’s also going to really increase the flair in and around the central areas. I’m sure there will be matches where I think it’s right to put him in there or even start him there.
We had Hatem playing as a No.10 last season. Mentally and physically I think he’s in much better shape to play that role than he was back then”.
Especially in the absence of Yohan Cabaye it is essential we get Ben Arfa on the ball as much as possible and tied to the wing it is always going to be that much harder getting him involved on a regular basis.
You’d imagine that especially in a tough away match like Fulham the only way to accommodate Hatem in that number ten role is by playing only one of Ba and Cisse. It will also depend on who else is fit to make up a formation that will allow Ben Arfa to go in the middle.
Whatever the case I can’t wait to see him back on the pitch.
