Ba ‘If better for me to stay, I’ll stay – If better for me to go…’

I’m not wearing rose-tinted glasses but I am one for being supportive of players, instead of just going along with the lynch mob mentality.

In all the time I’ve supported Newcastle, whenever there is a dispute between club and player over a contract, almost every time the club is more than happy to get friendly journalists to make the story ‘greedy player/innocent club’.

With Demba Ba, even if he left for nothing tomorrow we could hardly complain about his contribution. No transfer fee and he’s scored loads of goals, available pretty much every match and tries his best.

He isn’t a Geordie, he doesn’t owe Newcastle United any more than any other player owes any other club.

If Demba Ba leaves I’ll be gutted but I wouldn’t see any reason to demonise or hate him, he has kept his side of the bargain – scored goals and tried his best.

On the other hand, Newcastle United have failed manager, players and fans, I honestly think that Ba would have come to an agreement if United had brought in the players to build on last season’s success. Arsenal are the talked about team in relation to Ba’s possible destinations and their ‘trophy drought’ is seven years and counting.

What I think can’t go on is Ba’s now regular public flirting with possibly moving while at the same time wishing to continue to have the same relationship with Newcastle’s fans.

This is Demba’s latest ambiguous interview with a French media outlet, this time RMC;

“Arsenal is a club that has not won the title for a long time but it is true that it is a club that attracts every footballer.

But as I said and repeated, these are the people who talk in the newspapers because for the moment, between me and Arsenal, there is not much.
That means I’m in my club at the moment and the day I have to leave, I will analyse the situation. If it’s better for me to stay, I will stay. And if it’s better for me to go, I will.

After that, it is better to go somewhere where there are a lot of French because it fits more easily. But for me now, it is not in the program”.

In contrast, via his Twitter account, Demba is almost like a different person as he gets his message across to the fans with no ambiguity;

After the Man.Utd match;

“Take the lead 3 times at Man U and you get nothing…football can be so terrible sometimes. Thanks for the support of the fans once again”.

After the QPR match;

“It feels good to get 3 points…finally! And that goal from Shola, oh my god:-)”.

After the Manchester City match;

“I wanna thank the fans really. I was looking at the stand and think…what an atmosphere”.

“I would love to see people’s nose grow like Pinocchio when they lie”.
