Alan Pardew Changes His Transfer Strategy

Just over two weeks ago, Alan Pardew had this to say about the upcoming January transfer window;

“I know I have given an overview of where our season may go but I am not going to talk about the window because that is unfair.

You won’t get anything about January from me. There will be discussions between myself and Derek and Mike about the plan for January”.

Then earlier this week, when questioned about a possible move for Loic Remy of Marseille, the manager replied;

“That’s a situation we are looking at”.

So much for not talking about the transfer window…

Now Alan Pardew has said the following;

“I need a couple of players and if you think I’m not asking for them, then you are seriously mistaken.

I need a couple of players in this group, maybe even three.

Whether we can get them here, on a financial front, remains to be seen”.

We all know that the manager isn’t going to come out and do a Keegan, saying if they won’t back him then he’ll walk.

Instead within their very strange relationship, Pardew is definitely making it clear to Mike Ashley, and the supporters, that the team/squad is short of at least three players.

What happens between now and the end of January, both on and off the pitch, could well also decide what happens between Mike Ashley and Alan Pardew, with the ink still dry on an eight year contract.
