Alan Pardew ‘Aim Is One In, Nobody Out’
Speaking to the Chronicle, the manager had this to say;
“It is a difficult window but I think we would like to get, definitely, one player in and not lose anybody. It could be that we lose a player, you never know.
Obviously I lost Andy Carroll in this window and in a situation that wasn’t too dissimilar to what I’m in now two years later, maybe it was a bit better.
If that is the case then we need two players and if we lose two then we need three.
Myself, Mike and Derek all agree that we should have brought one more senior player in here”.
Not exactly the most positive rallying cry and to talk about potentially losing a player(s) may possibly be realistic but not what you want to hear.
I think one player is the very least we need, especially after only buying one first team player in the summer and losing first team squad players like Forster, Smith, Best and Lovenkrands.
If any of our best players leave then it could well be critical as I find it hard to believe we’d then recruit somebody of the same ability.
If you asked me whether Newcastle United will come out of the January transfer window in a better or worse position then I’d have to say it is in the balance.
