Alan Pardew Admits NUFC Need Signings

Alan Pardew’s vow of silence on the January transfer window didn’t last very long as after watching Newcastle’s fringe players come  a poor second to a Bordeaux reserve team, the manager admitted he was desperate for new players by the end of January.

“I’m just hoping that, fingers crossed, that when we come out of the other side of the (January transfer) window, we have got a stronger squad”.

I always think that at times Alan Pardew is clever at getting his message across.

Trying to get Mike Ashley to spend the money on essential squad strengthening is clearly not an easy job and meeting it head on in terms of demanding whatever, is no doubt doomed to failure.

So by putting all of our back up players together on the pitch for last night’s largely dead rubber, Alan Pardew laid bare just how below the standard our first reserves are.

Thus letting Mike Ashley see for himself what a difficult/impossible job Alan Pardew has in the second half of the season if the owner is expecting the manager to turn this season around without any added quality.
