Video Special – Great NUFC Anfield Memories…Off The Pitch!

I sit here and think of how many great times I’ve had in Liverpool, both at the match and especially staying over on nights out.

However, I still can’t believe that I’ve seen us win so infrequently at Anfield – the relegation season of 1988/89  when we fluked a 2-1, Steve Watson scoring a screamer to win in the League Cup, plus of course the superb 2-0 in 1994 around the fifth anniversary of Hillsborough.

That’s it.

However, life isn’t all about winning, well how can it be when it comes to football and only one team can win the league each season?

Memories though are what it is all about and of course the terraces leant themselves far better to atmosphere and simply having a good time no matter what.

One night was really special and with Sunday’s match fast approaching we go back 27 years to Keegan’s return to Anfield but in a black & white shirt, live on TV a nationwide audience saw a brilliant display by….the fans.

Never mind the result on the pitch this was a never to be forgotten atmosphere, along with many others I’m still convinced it was true what we sang that night to the home support, ‘we’ve got more fans than you’, watch this and love it for the nostalgia but also weep that kids today are denied the chance of being part of something so magical.

Winning is definitely not everything.
