USA Money To Flow Into Newcastle United
Having agreed a bumper increase in the deal to broadcast Premier League matches in the UK, the individual deals around the world are going through the roof.
The latest to benefit NUFC and the rest of the Premer League has seen a deal signed for the rights in North America, the total amount of money agreed is more than THREE TIMES the previous deal.
NBC Universal are paying a reported $250m over three years according to Sports Illustrated, as opposed to the current $23m a season with Fox.
A bonus on top of this is that whereas before the Premier League used a middle man for most overseas deals, now they are doing the deals direct and so making even more money.
The net effect of the TV deals home and abroad is that when they kick in next season, it could well see the bottom team in the Premier League receiving around £60m via the TV agreements, as opposed to around the £40m Wolves got last season, an amount that will be roughly replicated this season for whoever finishes 20th.
The further up the league you go then you’ll find clubs getting at least that amount more than they would currently get.
Plus, not only is the benefit there in the basic financial arrangement.
On top of that, NBC Universal will be making every single Premier League match available to be seen live via various stations/formats and that will massively increase the exposure for the English clubs, which is certain to equate to massively increased commercial opportunities.
