United Striker Out With Knee Problem

Two weeks ago we brought you news that Adam Campbell had picked up an injury but strangely there was total radio silence at St.James’ Park.

Then on Monday the seventeen year old was spotted hobbling around while watching Newcastle reserves take on Manchester United.

Today though Alan Pardew has confirmed that Campbell is out with a knee problem but the good news is he doesn’t need an operation.

Talking to the Shields Gazette, Alan Pardew had this to say;

“Adam’s injured, he hurt his knee a couple of weeks ago. It isn’t serious, he just needs rest”.

While reserve team coach Wille Donachie added;

“I think it’s going to be a while yet, the physios are being cautious about it and rightly so. He’s going to be a special player if he progresses like we hope”.

A real shame for the North Shields youngster because he would have had a great chance of getting more minutes on the pitch in our upcoming Europa League matches, while I wouldn’t even have minded having him as a bit of a wildcard to have on the bench for our Premier League matches when he might offer something different for ten or fifteen minutes.
