Statistics Prove NUFC Effort

If anybody doubted Cheick Tiote’s commitment to Newcastle United, or his commitment to the team, then the stats from the last couple of matches make interesting reading.

According to EA Sports who are the Premier League’s official player performance monitors, Tiote covered more ground than anybody else in black & white against Southampton and followed that up with another 6.53 miles against Stoke, once again making him Newcastle’s biggest mover.

Furthermore, in the midweek matches, Newcastle were one of only two teams to lose despite covering more ground than the opposition. United covered 65 miles compared to 63.9 for Stoke.

What seems clear is that it wasn’t through lack of effort we didn’t beat Stoke and now that Alan Pardew has clearly got the right reaction in terms of sweat, the players need to iron out the daft mistakes that have gifted goals and show a bit more composure at the other end.
