Pardew Says He Wants Carroll

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s match Alan Pardew has stated that when Andy Carrol’s loan deal is up at West Ham, he wants to see Newcastle try and bring him back to Tyneside.

Speaking to BBC Sport Alan Pardew had this to say;

“He’s a Liverpool player and not wanted so at some point he’s going to move permanently and I’d like to think we’ll be in the mix for that”

The manager was also at pains to say what benefits selling the player had brought to Newcastle United;

“The fee was astronomical, we have used it well (signing Cisse, Cabaye, Ba etc.), the position we are in, if I’m honest, is because we used the money from Andy’s sale well.

He was a brilliant player for us and we owe a great debt to him”.

While I think we owe a greater debt to Liverpool’s naive new owners who let Dalglish spend money like it was going out of fashion, it is common sense that the Carroll deal in hindsight has been a massive positive.

However, it will be interesting to see what the next move for Carroll will be when his loan period ends.

Hand on heart, with Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse not exactly proving the perfect fit so far, it would be very interesting to imagine what either could do alongside Carroll.

The biggest question though is will we ever get a chance to see it?
