Pardew ‘Safe’ But O’Neill Sack Odds Tumble
Despite Newcastle’s average start to the season, the BetVictor market on the ‘Next Premier League Manager To Leave’ had David Moyes rated least likely at 150-1 but with Alan Pardew rated next safest alongside Sir Alex Ferguson at 100-1. After the reversal against West Ham nothing has changed and our leader is still rated safe as houses, well as safe as any Premier League manager can be.
However, at the sharp end, the weekend’s results have seen the odds tumble on our mate Marty O’Neill, before their latest defeat at Everton the betting was –
Nigel Adkins 1/3, Mark Hughes 4/1, Roberto Mancini 10/1, Martin O’Neill 33/1.
The mackems face a tricky visit to Fulham on Sunday and it is possible they could be in the bottom three by then, plus QPR face Southampton so somebody must pick up points between them!
Interesting though to see the bookies so rock solid in how they see Alan Pardew’s position, I doubt there has been many times in Newcastle’s modern history when we’ve had one of the most secure managers in the top flight.
