Pardew Names Half Team v Brugge

Alan Pardew has confirmed five definite starters well ahead of naming his full team for the clash with Club Brugge tonight.

The manager has stated that the (domestically) suspended Cheick Tiote and Fabricio Coloccini will both play, as well as Mike Williamson and the Ameobi brothers.

Alan Pardew;

“They (all the players) are not all equal of course but for example, Williamson was very upset to be left lout of the Premier League game last Sunday but I want him to play in this game.

I am strategically placing players in the games where I think they will excel. It’s not about a weakened side, it’s about a strategic side.

Cheick was the best player in training (on Thursday) with the extra rest from not playing at the weekend.

That will be a bonus for us and now Colo goes into that category, so that has been kind of a welcome bonus if you like.

Shola will start and it will be the first time that him and Sammy both start a game together”.

The rest of the team will be selected from the following, though the manager has already stated Yohan Cabaye will miss through injury.

Abeid, Amalfitano, Anita, Bigirimana, Cabaye, Cisse, Elliot, Ferguson, Krul, Marveaux, Obertan, Santon, Tavernier, Steven Taylor, Xisco
