Operation Likely For NUFC Playmaker

8 years ago

Just when you think it can’t get any worse…it normally does.

With Newcastle struggling for both form and points, the last thing we need is an extended spell out for one of our select band of creative players.

Last season we saw Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse almost exclusively taking responsibility for hitting the back of the net, while in terms of creativity it was Hatem Ben Arfa and Yohan Cabaye who were central to our success.

Hatem Ben Arfa might have to continue as the sole outlet as Alan Pardew had some sobering news on the availability of Yohan Cabaye;

“He’s having a second opinion on his groin injury and we think he might need a little bit of surgery there”.

Any recovery time will of course depend on whether he needs surgery and how serious, or not, it proves to be.

Needless to say we are desperate for creativity in midfield and in the middle of the park it is hard to see us getting an awful lot from Cheick Tiote and Vurnon Anita, certainly based on Saturday’s match.

In the matches so far this season Cabaye may not have found any consistency but there have been moments of quality such as the pass for Ba’s goal at Everton and quality goals against Liverpool and the mackems, to remind us all of just how good a team Yohan can help us be.
