Odds Slashed On Pardew Or O’Neill Next To Go
Only two weeks ago, even after our poor loss to West Ham, Alan Pardew was seen as the second safest Premier League manager, like Sir Alex Ferguson he was rated as a big longshot of 100/1 as the next manager to leave his job, while Martin O’Neill’s odds were cut but he was still a big 33/1.
Since then Di Matteo has bizarrely been kicked out of Chelsea while Mark Hughes was predictably given the boot at QPR.
In these last two weeks O’Neill’s Sunderland have actually won (though tellingly they still haven’t beaten a ten men opposition since back in March) and drawn two of their three matches yet O’Neill is now odds on favourite 10/11 as the next to go.
Closer to home, we are seeing that eight year contracts mean little to hard-nosed bookies, who when they smell money/blood are ruthless. They have slashed Alan Pardew to 16/1 as the next manager to leave – the leading candidates as follows;
